Procedure

A solution of 3-bromo-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-5-oxa-1,9-diaza-benzocycloheptene (1.1 g, 4.80 mmol), ethyl acrylate (1.5 mL, 14.4 mmol) and diisopropylethylamine (2.5 mL, 14.4 mmol) in propionitrile (100 mL) was purged with an Argon stream for 10 min. Pd(OAc)2 (108 mg, 048 mmol) and P(o-tol)3 (292 g, 0.96 mmol) were added and the Argon purge was repeated. The mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 8 h under Argon. Upon cooling, the resultant mixture was filtered through celite; the filtrate was evaporated. The crude product was purified by chromatography (silica, 0-2% MeOH CH2Cl2) to afford the title compound (0.753 g, 63%). 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6, δ): 7.98 (d, J=1.9 Hz, 1H), 7.52 (d, J=1.9 Hz, 1H), 7.51 (d, J=16 Hz, 1H), 6.83 (s, br, 1H), 6.42 (d, J=16 Hz, 1H), 4.15 (m, 4H), 3.34 (m, 2H), 1.98 (m, 2H), 1.25 (t, J=2 Hz, 3H).
