To [6-methoxy-2′-(4-methyl-2,5-dioxo-4-phenyl-imidazolidin-1-ylmethyl)-4′-trifluoromethyl-biphenyl-3-yl]-acetic acid methyl ester (0.087 g, 0.16 mmol) in DMF (0.9 mL) was added sodium hydride (60% in mineral oil; 0.013 g, 0.20 mmol), followed by methyl bromoacetate (0.02 mL, 0.18 mmol), and the reaction was stirred for 40 minutes. The mixture was worked-up with H2O, CH2Cl2, and 1N aqueous HCl, and then purified by silica gel chromatography (0-50% EtOAc in hexanes) to give the title compound.
