30 g of 2,5-difluoronitrobenzene and 26.7 g of 4-chlorobenzylamine are dissolved in 300 ml of tetrahydrofuran. 40 g of potassium carbonate are added to this solution and the mixture is refluxed for 8 hours. After cooling, the reaction mixture is added to 1.7 l of water and 50 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid. The crystals obtained are filtered off and washed with water and then with isopropyl ether to give 41.9 g of 2-(4-chlorophenylmethylamino)-5-fluoronitrobenzene in the form of crystals melting at 160° C.
