Procedure
A solution of 8-bromo-N-methoxy-N-methyl-5-piperazin-1-ylimidazo[1,5-a]pyridine-6-carboxamide dihydrochloride (500 mg, 1.1 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (5 mL) was treated with N,N-diisopropylethylamine (0.69 mL, 4.0 mmol), followed by 4-dimethylaminopyridine (5 mg, 0.04 mmol). The reaction mixture was treated with acetic anhydride (0.13 mL, 1.4 mmol) dropwise and stirred at 20° C. for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (200 mL), washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate, water (3×), and brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to give the desired product (0.41 g, 89%). This material was used without purification. LCMS for C16H21BrN5O3 (M+H)+: m/z=410.1, 412.1. Found: 409.8, 411.8.
