To a stirred solution of methyl (1R,2S)-2-(4-fluoro-benzylamino)-cyclopentanecarboxylate (2.50 g, 10 mmol) in anhydrous N,N-dimethylformamide (25 mL) under a nitrogen atmosphere, (7-iodo-1,1-dioxo-1,4-dihydro-1λ6-benzo[1,2,4]thiadiazin-3-yl)-acetic acid (prepared as described in Example 24b, 3.66 g, 10 mmol), N-methylmorpholine (2.20 mL, 20 mmol) and 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride (1.92 g, 10 mmol) were added sequentially. After stirring at 25° C. for 16 h, the reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with a 1.0 M aqueous hydrochloric acid solution and saturated aqueous brine solution, dried over sodium sulfate and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to afford the crude amide intermediate.
