(3-Hydroxy-4-methoxy-phenyl)-acetic acid methyl ester (1 g, 5.2 mmol), 2-fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde (1 g, 5.2 mmol), and potassium carbonate (1.3 g, 10.4 mmol) were combined in THF (10 mL) and heated to 65° C. for 8 hours. After working-up the mixture with H2O and EtOAc, the crude material was purified by silica gel chromatography to give the desired product as a white solid (0.45 g).
